THE BARCELONA AIRBNB

Barcelona, ES

This residential project was designed to highlight lighting and how kelvins and lumen output can change the meaning of a given space.

Over the summer prior to this course, I had daydreamed of visiting Barcelona, because of it’s architectural history and landscape. Looking into airbnb’s within the area, I came up short and did not find what I was searching for. I decided during this project, I would create and design an airbnb, celebrating the essence of Barcelona, upon approval.

Since the research was done over the summer, I was granted the “go ahead”. Which I took full advantage of, gracing the home with all local sourced lighting and sculpting elements. Along with atriums, that housed native plants of Spain, scattered throughout the home. Giving any visitor, the feeling of the Barcelona paradise, it has to offer.

Lighting elevates a space, giving this home the chance to emit emotions. This design proved that light offers a lively presence, allowing it to feel like a celebration of the surrounding culture.
